A Long Post on Lip Tints

Morning lovely ladies :)

Obviously we've all heard of the original lip and cheek tint, Benetint, but at £23.50 a bottle it's not very affordable. Luckily for us there's loads of alternatives of the product once used on strippers' nipples out there and I'm going to show you a few today

2True Cheek 'n' Lip Tint - £1.95

Okay, this is more of a Posie Tint copy rather than a Benetint, but this stuff is DISGUSTING. The bottle looks like a nail varnish, and the stuff inside is of a pretty similar consistency to a nail varnish too! It's bright neon and just gross. So so gross. If you want I'll show you the bottle and brush. Ewww.

Bourjois Rouge Hi-Tech in Groseille Irreelle

 I actually really like this product, it's quite messy though so it's handy it comes with the lid. Quite watery though so not highly pigmented, better for people that already have quite pinky lips (that'll be me!) but I think the wide colour selection is great for different skin tones. I thought the name Groseille Irreelle was kind of ugly, until I realised it's English translation was Unreal Redcurrant. Catchy.

Max Factor Lipstick in Midnight Plum

Okay, I cheated. This is a lipstick, but does the swatch look like one? I love love love this, it's in Max Factors darker skinned lipstick range but it is a suit all shade. Apply from the bullet like a lipstick or using your fingers to get the 'lip tint' effect seen in the swatch. You can use this method with pretty much any lipstick!

Mememe Pussy Cat Cheek and Lip Tint

I don't see why they called it Pussy Cat? I don't see my cat going around with pink splodges on her face. . okay okay that's a lie! I think this one is the most similar to Benetint, however it is very watery, so you need to build it up, and it tastes quite foul. Like pot pourri. Bleuuurgh.

Topshop Tint

Lovely lovely lovely. This is actually really nice, you only need a smidge and it's a deep berry colour which you can build up. I think this would suit most skin tones, me being a pale head I only use the smallest amount but it gives a lovely glow. If you didn't get that, it's really lovely :)

New Topshop AW10 Make Up

Hey lovely ladies!

And welcome to my new followers ;) I was in Topshop Oxford Circus today and I just happened to spot this postcard by the till

I quite like the look of the Powder Blush, I don't know if it's the photo but it does look quite messy! I like the idea though with the sponge in the lid. .

What do they mention?

• Cream Eyeshadows
• Coloured Mascaras in Plum, Green and Electric Blue
• a 'must-have' Eyeliner Ink Well
• more Khol shades
• New Blushers
• More Nail Colours (in Camel, Utilitarian Green, Peach and Air Force Blue)

I think I will have to check this out, as some of it looks quite good. A bit sceptical about the eyeliner 'ink well'. Ink Well? Seriously? Something tells me it'll just be a pot of gel eyeliner. .

And Camel, Utilitarian Green and Peach? Hmm, now what does that remind me of. . .?

My Most Used Brushes

Morning lovely ladies!

I was thinking yesterday, I really do only use a few of my brushes. I decided to leave out my MAC ones, as great as they are I think it's nice to show a few alternatives which are just as good if not better. These are the brushes I can't live without, followed with a little about each one

ELF Professional Eyeshadow Brush - £1.50

 It's a bit scratchy and not good at defining but it's perfect at giving a wash of colour and that's why I love it! It's also lasted me a very long time and it's really cheap

  Boots No.7 Eyeshadow Blend & Contour Brush - £6.50

Can you believe I bought this, then received the £5 off voucher? That must be a first! Absolutely amazing brush, good dupe for a MAC 217. Really good at getting into the crease, not so good at providing a wash of colour, but hey that's what my ELF is for ;)

H&M Angled Contouring Brush - around £2

This brush has lasted me a good year or so, and I think some H&M branches still sell it in the make up area. Amazing brush, really good for contouring but I also love it for blusher. Gives my face definition and I love love love it. I don't know how people can live without one of these types of brushes

Topshop Eyeliner Brush - £3

 When I saw this brush I thought to myself I am not going to buy this if it costs more than £6. So to see it for only £3 I was ecstatic. Such a good brush, it's sturdy, the bristles don't bend at all and it can be used for thin lines, thick lines, wings and for creating the thinnest line in the inner corner of your eye. I will ensure that I have this brush with me for the rest of my life!

Have I found my perfect foundation??

Hola chicas!

So yesterday me and my friend went to Westfields in London (the huuuge one) and if I'm honest MAC was a bit meh. It might've been the heat, or all the annoying school girls in there swatching away or the lack of Jazzed so I walked away empty handed. However, a couple of shops down is Inglot. Inglot, if you haven't heard of it is a brand that I have to say rivals MAC. I'm not entirely sure where they're from, but their products seem to be made in Poland. They claim that they have 'an endless amount of colours to choose from over 3 000 000 000 000 000 colour combinations'. I think someone might've pressed 0 a few too many times there.

Now I am on a budget lately so I thought I'd treat myself to one product, and that was the Cream Powder foundation. The MUA tried it on me, and as sweet as she was she applied it a little too heavy. I urge you though if you go in there DO ask the staff for help, they are lovely but they look quite sad sometimes, it can't be easy having MAC as a neighbour (try and go for the short dark haired man, he's got one of those 'aw I just want to give you a hug' faces!) But anyways, I've always liked the idea of cream to powder foundations but they've never been quite right. Either a bit drying or not creamy enough *cough* Max Factor Miracle Touch *cough*. However take a look at this, it's quite hard to portray just how creamy it is, but I've put it next to Topshop's Cream Blusher, which has the consistency of chalk compared to this! I know you're probably thinking, Sophie, haven't you got the wrong season for a higher coverage cream foundation? Yes you're probably right, but with a finish like this after about 6 hours wear, can you really complain?

That's without highlighter. No joke.

Loves And Hates of June

Wow can you believe we're past halfway through the year? Me neither! Anyways, let me introduce you to my first ever Loves and Hates of the month!

Loves

 The Body Shop Body Butter in Passionfruit. I bought this for £4.50 (including Membership Discount) because at the moment selected 200ml Body Butters are only £5 (they're normally £12.50!) This is so delicious and I just want to eat it up

Collection 2000's mineral foundation. This is my first ever mineral foundation and I think for the summer, I'm converted. This is such a lovely formulation and I am a freckled faced girl (and no, I don't like them) and whilst this doesn't cover them it does blur them so I'm left looking like I've been photoshopped, it really does make your face look flawless and glowing. Love it!

Cutting up men's tshirts :) Now I love a baggy tshirt, but they really are pretty much impossible to find. Primark has a few, but they always practically see-through and show your bra and they're always not quite right. Everywhere else just seems to have 'stretch' tshirts. I don't want fabric clinging to me in the middle of Summer! So I bought these two t-shirts from H&M for Men, and cut the neck off. The striped one was £2.99 and the nude behind was £3.99. I wear them off the shoulder and you can't see my bra through them, perfect!

Vintage-style handbags. Now I have quite a few of these and this is my newest addition, which went shopping with me today in Oxford Street :) I bought this off Laura's blog sale and it was a bargain and it has so many pockets!

Mixing lip colours. I've always loved doing this, I think I'm one of those people that can't stop when it comes to make up! This is Gosh Darling mixed with Revlon Colorburst in Coral. A lot of people say they find coral difficult to wear and whilst I think that this coral is very wearable, dabbing it over the top of Gosh Darling (or any other nude) gives you a subtle lip colour that isn't your average pink, yet it still remains not too out there!

Hates

Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Tutti Fruity. Now don't get me wrong I usually love these nail varnishes, but this one is just terrible. The colour is lovely yes, but it chips like nobody's business and it bubbles. Yes, bubbles. I currently have bumpy chipped nails, it really isn't a good look.

These two glosses I have to admit, I got free as at Boots and Superdrug at the moment you get one free when you spend over £4, but I still can't love them. The best thing about them is their names, but apart from that, they last a matter of seconds, they taste disgusting and no matter which one you use they all look the same colour. 

Topshop Liner. You can read my full review of Topshop make up here, and if you've read it already you'll know I hate it. This liner is SO bad it's so difficult to use and the liner is terrible, really thin and yuck. The only thing I use this for is dipped in MAC Fluidline when I can't find my eyeliner brush but apart from that it's no use and I will never buy it again.

Benefit Bad Gal. You can read my Benefit Rant here and my speedy review of this here, I take it back, this liner is not fab and I would never ever buy this. It is a complete waste of money as it just doesn't do what it says it will and it doesn't last on your waterline, or anywhere else for that matter!

Disappointment :(

Ok ok I know this is long overdue but I wanted to see if they would last, or if my initial love would fade. And I kind of need to have a mini rant about Topshop Make Up. It has its good points and its bad, but first of all I'll let you know what I have from there;

So I'll start with the good stuff

• The lip polish in Smoothie is a lovely formulation
• The lip polish and the cream blusher in Nutmeg have really useful little mirrors on them
• The colour of the Tint is really pretty
• The creme blusher feels really nice to the touch
• The packaging is very cute

And the bad;

• It's overpriced. Which is to be expected of Topshop but the quality isn't quite up to the price
• The liner is crap. It's terrible. It stinks just like the Maybelline Line Definer, it applies thinly and doesn't last. Apply it to your hand however and it looks just how you'd like it to on your eyes :(
• The lip polish is a bit blah. It doesn't last long, the colour is completely different to that online, and because I ordered mine online I was quite excited to try this colour. However it's a baby pink and very boring.
• The packaging, as pretty as it is, gets dirty VERY quickly and looks a bit scruffy a month later
• The shades of the blushers aren't very wearable. Nutmeg is nice, as is Pinch, but they're not the easiest to blend and don't last very long
• The tint will not last all day on your cheeks/lips yet it will stain your fingers, which isn't the most attractive look

So what are your thoughts on Topshop's Make Up? Anything you're thinking of buying? Or regretting?
