A Quick Thank You :)

Hello lovely ladies!

I don't know if you've noticed but I've reached over 100 followers, it's actually so so exciting

The reason I decided to do this post was because I just checked my Stats for my blog (it tells me where you ladies are coming from and what you're reading. . and what you're not!)

I've discovered that I've got people reading from Australia, Brasil, Argentina, Chile and even Alaska!

I'll have a requested review of lip and cheek tints that I've used posted tomorrow but in the mean time it would be great if you could take the time to vote in my poll that's just over there >>

And I'll leave you with this. .

Oh and if you're wondering, yes it took lots of attempts to get this photo. .

Okay maybe I should press the timer button BEFORE taking the photo

hank you! hahaha
love you lots

Let's Get Neutral ;)

Hello lovely ladies

I got my AS results today, don't you hate that tummy churning feeling when you're about to get results?! Ahh.

Anyways on a lighter note, I've completed a MAC Palette, I've been buying myself an eyeshadow everytime I need cheering up and here's what I've come up with

Top Row: Wedge, Brule
Bottom Row: Mulch, Naked Lunch

I would've done a 15 palette but I'm always taking make up away with me up to Yorkshire and it's more practical this way. I'm in love with the colours, Brule makes a lovely all over eye colour, and Mulch has been on my wishlist for a very long time (thank you Sinead!)

Now I know they're all neutral, but I love my neutrals, especially MAC's as you can go neutral without sparkly bits, are there any truly matte eyeshadows on the high street?

If you could pick 4 MAC colours what would they be? Let me know!

PS If you were wondering, I got AAB in my AS!

The Hills Debate

Hey lovely ladies

Okay Facebook friends aren't giving me answers, so I was wondering if you could enlighten me on your thoughts on The Hills. That last episode really stumped me! I won't ruin it for you if you haven't watched it yet, but if you have this picture sums up what I'm talking about!

What do you think? You reckon that it's completely fake? Some bits are and some bits aren't?

Let me know what you think!

50% off at Models Own? Yes Please :)

Hey everyone

Just to let you know Models Own are feeling a bit unloved and therefore want a few more people to 'like' them on Facebook. They're currently on around 5000 members but they need 10,000 before they give us 50% off.

So what you waiting for? Give em a little like from me, eh? And then you can justify buying two things off them, right? Because that's the same price as buying one thing full price. Bargain!

Click the picture to give them some loving

On another note, is the Youtube toolbar thingy getting on your nerves too? It's driving me CRAZY!

Have a lovely Monday evening, ladies

Products That Don't Live Up To The Hype

Hey ladies!

There must be so many of these out there and I was interested to see what you thought, if there are any products you really don't get on with.

To start, here's a couple of mine

Maybelline Great Lash
Oh my gosh. Biggest let down ever. And aren't they meant to sell a billion a minute or something? I don't know who's buying them though! I am a fan of the packaging though. .

GOSH Darling
Ok it's not like I hate this, I kinda love the scent, all white chocolatey, but it's super drying, lasts a whole of 5 minutes and a bit of a let down. I love it for toning down lip colours though but I don't think it's right for my pale complexion
I'll add some more later if I can think of them

Have you tried these? What are your 'let down' products? Do you find you buy things that everyone loves only to hate them?

Mini Rant, Why Blogs Are Better Than Magazines

Hey everyone!

I guess this is a case of preaching to the converted but before I got into blogging I would flick straight to the beauty pages of magazines. After buying a few more lately (damn you WHSmith in Waterloo station!) whilst waiting for friends I've realised that reading someone's post is so much more satisfying than reading about the newest products in a magazine.

Take for instance this month's Company magazine. I'm not really a Company fan, it's not really aimed at me I guess and the sealed sections drive me MAD. Why anyone would think that you'd have to seal a few pages together about bum surgery is beyond me (if you don't get this reference go and look at the current issue of Company. .Grrr)

That's all you get. One page. And a few others about new perfumes. But that doesn't satisfy my needs!
I found out aaaages ago about the new Estee Lauder palette mentioned from Charlie and that's what I love about blogging. It's so much easier to read than a magazine, and most of the things you read are genuine, honest opinions on products that there is actually a chance you might consider buying.

It's like having a beauty magazine to read every day of the year and for that I am very thankful :)
Keep up the good work ladies!

What do you think? Have you given up on going to magazines for beauty advice?

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural, I'm In Love!

Hey ladies
I've reached the 20 follower mark, I'm so proud you've no idea :) I remember when it really felt like no one was listening but now I know you are so thank you so so much!

Anyways, at work we had a World Cup Sweepstake, and I pulled out Spain so this week I got my hands on £40, I never win anything! So off I went down to MAC Covent Garden and picked up a Mineralize Skin Finish Natural which set me back £18, pretty reasonable I think for the 10g you get (6g of normal blusher = £16.50).

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural in Medium Plus - £18
Sorry for the stock photo but my cameras upstairs ;) I actually love this powder SO much. It keeps my foundation set all day and I reckon it'll last forever. It's had about 5 days usage now and it looks untouched. It works especially well with my Inglot Cream Powder Foundation (which I have to say has not brought me out in spots despite slightly heavier coverage, YAY) Also I'm quite excited at getting Medium Plus, that's two shades up from light! I never buy anything but light!

But one thing I noticed when looking for an image, look at MAC prices for this across the world, strange;

  • UK: £18
  • America: $26 = £17
  • Canada $31 (Canadian Dollars) = £19.24
  • France €26 = £21.96
(conversions according to Google 18/07/10 at 19:36)
What I found strange was that Canadian's get charged £1.24 more than us, despite MAC being a Canadian company! Then again they do get free delivery (grrrr)

Do you ever wait to go abroad to buy make up? And have you tried any of the MAC Mineralize products? What did you think?

Love Sophie xx
PS Thanks for all your advice and stories on my last post, nice to see that you ladies do it the healthy way! x

Lynx Fever!

Ok so you're probably thinking I'm doing a review for men right? Wrong! We're one of those families where the shower is full of half empty shower gels and my favourite one was running out. So what did I do, I reached for my brother's Lynx Fever, expecting it to smell of teenage boy. I was pleasantly surprised and my first thought was 'wow this smells just like Lush!', you know that unmistakable smell down every British high street? That's what this smells like.
This is what they say about it;

With Brazilian Hot Mud and Red Dragonfruit extract, Lynx Fever Shower Gel will get you warmed up for action.

Unfortunately it doesn't do a Soap and Glory and heat up but it really does smell lovely and lingers on your skin for quite a while. Not so much in a teenage boy polluting the house kind of way but if someone were to hug you they'd smell it. In short, it makes you feel clean and smelling fresh :)

So pop down to your local Boots and have a smell of the shower gels, they're around £2 but I think in Wilkinsons you can usually get them a bit cheaper. I'm thinking of persuading my brother to get Africa next, that is a lovely smell :)

Have you ever cheekily used Lynx?

I'm Famous! And What's In My Bag Tag!

Hello lovely ladies!
Just before I get started, I thought I'd let you know I posted my entry yesterday from my Blackberry and I think it's posted up ok, but the reason why I did this is because I was at the Camden Roundhouse to participate in the Channel 4 programme How To Save A £100Billion Live. If you watched this (or watch it  now on 4OD!) you'll see me about every 5 minutes, I'm the girl in the red who didn't know where to look next to the female presenter. How exciting!

Watch the programme here

I was tagged in this by the lovely Nikki, so let's see what's in my bag!

To start with, what does my bag actually look like?
I love love love my bag, it was £18 from New Look and I bought it because it looks just like the Mulberry Alexa (well from a distance. . !)

But what's inside?
Oh dear it looks such a mess! Also I usually have my Blackberry, Ipod Nano and Calvin Klein Euphoria chucked in there too but they had gone wandering when I decided to take this photo!

What's inside?
  • Filofax
  • Anti-Histamines (I have a rather annoying condition called Urticaria)
  • Purse
  • Badges from when I went to see The Drums
  • A foldaway spoon (I can't bring myself to throw it away it looks so useful!)
  • Notes On A Scandal (I do a LOT of train travelling)
  • Old battered purse which I LOVE
  • Travelcards, Oyster Card holder and various pens and half eaten gum packets, ugh
  • Isklar water -- I love this bottle and at the moment it's only 36p at Sainsburys woo!
  • My dad's sunglasses
  • Mascara, see review here
  • And a lipstick/gloss for any mood haha
And these are swatches of the lippies in my bag (I know I have waaay too many in there and my hand STINKS after washing these off, I blame it on that Collection 2000 gloss!)
  1. ELF Gloss in Candlelight, which I have discovered tastes JUST like Percy Pigs mmm, see review here
  2. Gosh Darling
  3. 17 Mirror Shine-On Lipstick in Belle, see review here
  4. Revlon Matte Lipstick in Pink Pout
  5. Collection 2000 Gloss in Dolly Mixture (I got this free I would never buy this it's disgusting)
  6. MAC Lipstick in Craving
What's in your bag? Got anything in there that is just super cringeworthy?!

I tag; Holly, Sammi and Hannah :)

Also thank you guys for following me and leaving your lovely comments it really puts a smile on my face!

PS Just to let you know guys, all my links should open up in new tabs :)

    Another freebie!

Ok I'm sorry this is a bit late, but I only just went out to get my freebie from last week's Grazia (if you've got it, seriously go and get your free hand cream!)

So basically there's a coupon in last week's Grazia for the Citron, Honey and Coriander 'hand therapy' (or hand cream to you and me) and I was a bit sceptical. I never go to Crabtree and Evelyn,  my Mum's had the occasional gift from family friends from there, but I thought I might as well, nothing to lose. And I was pleasantly surprised.
    This is what I got;
Now I was thinking, Citron, Honey and Coriander? That's gonna smell disgusting, but it's such a lovely smell, not kitchen-y at all (I was expecting to smell like a pot of herbs) but really flowery. So if you've still got last week's Grazia I'm begging you go get it, it's free, it's gorgeous and I think the coupon runs out 25th June (can't be sure) so go go go!

Find your nearest store here or visit Grazia's website to see what they have to say about it :)

    Sophie xx

PS Rimmel sent me their new 3 looks mascara so review coming soon!
